What we teach

Ballet, from the first barre

Three ways in, by age and by where a dancer is on the Levels.

  • Pre-Ballet

A first class for ages 4 to 5, with a low barre, scarves and a piano.

    Pre-Ballet
  • Ballet by level

Ballet 1 through Ballet 5 for ages 6 to 14: barre, center and a short variation for May.

    Ballet by level
  • Pointe

When the teacher says a dancer is ready, decided with the family and never by age.

Before you choose

How do we try a class?

Book a placement visit. A teacher watches your dancer in a class, talks with you, and tells you which level fits. Wear something comfortable; socks are fine.

Which level is right for my child?

Ages on the Levels page are where dancers usually begin. The teacher chooses the level at the placement visit and again at each session break, and tells you why.

Do I need to stay?

Parents of Pre-Ballet dancers wait in the family room, which has a window onto the studio. For older levels you may wait there or step out, and a watch Saturday each session opens the door to families.

A placement visit is a short class and a talk with a teacher.
